Race to the Bottom in Education

A scandal over apparent collusion between teachers and examiners to improve exam results has raised fears that competition between examination boards is fuelling “a race to the bottom” in British education standards. Ofqual, the qualifications regulator, and the Commons education committee have both launched inquiries after a newspaper sting operation caught examiners boasting to teachers about how their qualifications are easier than those offered by rival boards.(Financial Times)
